This is my first season in UT and it's kind of a shock to me. We got back from skication only to have it be in the 60s-70s. I literally spent all afternoon outside in shorts and a tank top doing yard work yesterday. This is mind-boggling to me and makes me worry about the rest of my season. My landlord/friend reassured me that we'll get more snow but it's really hard to believe that when the weather is this "beautiful" (if you think that way).
We went to the Bird today and skied slush and ice. There were two pretty good runs that reminded me of growing up skiing near Truckee, but other than that it was loud and crusty. Our run back to the base was somewhat terrifying since we were partially ice skating. It's great gaper weather, and if all you want to do is work on a goggle tan then go up there and catch some rays, but otherwise it was kind of a bummer.
We're supposed to get snow this weekend and it's supposed to cool back down, but all I can think is that the mountain is going to freeze solid and I'm going to die. I guess Sunday we'll find out. If no more posts come don't mourn too long. At least I went out on my mountain. . .
