Taking the Downs with the Ups
One thing that's true about any activity is you can't always be going up. Sometimes you have to descend some to gain yet more elevation. This is true of everything is life, and it's a reality that is sometimes difficult to accept. Simply look at any nice hike; you may have thousands of feet of delta elevation change, so it's frustrating when you start going down knowing you are going to have to make up that and more to reach your final destination. At times like these it's important that I keep this in mind: I've never thought the destination wasn't worth the journey. It's not always easy, when it's too hot or too cold out and I'm already tired. But if you can know that the end will be worth the struggle, the journey can be so much better. And when you've got great company and support along the way it's so much sweeter.
